After the release of their EP entitled “Continued Silence”, they are silent no more. From performing at respected festivals, including SXSW, to being featured in the trailer for the new major motion picture The Perks of Being a Wallflower, this refreshing indie band from Las Vegas has been drawing storms of attention across the world this year.
Imagine Dragons is a four man band still in its infant stages, having only been active since 2008. Their music is comparable to the sounds of their Vegas contemporaries such as The Killers, while adding a folksy spin on their stadium rock and brit-pop contemporaries. The result is a unique sound that will influence a generation of bands afterwards.
The first time I came across this band was after a friend sent their single “In Time” to me on Spotify. The intro to the song begins with a pure beat, without being created on drums. Following this is a three-note repetition that immediately makes listeners feel youthful, hopeful, and happy.
It was like listening to dream.
From then on, I was hooked.
The moral of the story is: I cannot wait until I hear more from Imagine Dragons, and neither should you. Expect great things.
